The Amazing & Inspirational Life of Scissor Man! 🌟A self-proclaimed ‘scissor man’ born without hip joints, Marty Sheedy joins Dewey on this episode of WDD? to share his life story. Marty was born with medical conditions that have made his legs look like a pair of scissors. He has defied doctors' predictions that he’d die by the age of three and never be able to walk unaided if he lived longer. Well, contrary to those diagnoses, Marty has not only survived, but thrived! Marty has Arthrogryposis – the joint contracture in two or more areas of the body – and Prune Belly Syndrome – the lack of abdominal muscles. Thus, to walk, Marty DOESN’T walk like a penguin… but a pair of SCISSORS! In addition to over a dozen surgeries (including a kidney transplant) and with the love & support of his parents, family, and friends – a big shout-out to The Shriners – Marty’s determination rules the day.
Now age 36, Marty is “Just gettin’ started”. A celebrity in his own right, Marty is also founder and Executive Director of Project Scissor Gait Foundation and owner of Alpha Omega Healing, LLC. On today’s What Dewey Do? podcast, He tells his story, but also tells story after story of the celebrities he’s met, the places he’s gone, and the lives he’s touched.
